About the blog

I'm the author of Halfway to Hell, a noir thriller that draws on my love of classic crime and mystery books.

Writing is something I've always loved to do, but it's a job as well. It's a job I want to be good at, and so I'm making a concerted effort to learn from the best. That's why I'm going to school...

Thriller School is a blog following my progress as I write my next book, and at the same time try to read as many classic thrillers as possible. I've always been a fan of crime, noir, mystery, action, pulp, adventure, and whatever other subgenres can be lumped under the term 'thriller'. I've read a ton of books so far, but there's always more to devour.

I'll be reading the big hitters of today, like Connelly, Child and Coben; and making sure I take in some of the old masters, like Fleming, Ludlum and Chandler. I'll write here about my thoughts on each book: what I liked, what I didn't like, and most important of all, what I've learned.

This new site has grown out of my earlier blog, Halfway to Published, which followed my self-publishing experiment. If you're interested in e-publishing you can check out the archives. I'll no doubt touch on the pros and cons of DIY publishing, as well as going with a major label.

Halfway to Hell is available on Amazon and other fine ebook emporiums, and you can read the first 5 chapters right here.
